The Smithsonian retained Axias through an IDIQ contract with LendLease to provide two staff as on-site support to their in-house cost engineering group. We prepare and review estimates prepared by various A/E teams and review change orders for projects under construction. These can range from minor fit-outs of exhibit space to mechanical and electrical upgrades to new facilities and major renovations to National Mall museums. Our involvement extends to projects at the Conservation Biology Institute, the National Zoo, the National Museum of Natural History, the Udvar-Hazy Center at Dulles, storage facilities in Suitland, and several overseas research facilities.

Axias also has IDIQ contracts with several architecture firms:

Callison/RTKL, encompassing estimating at the Hirshhorn Museum, the National Museum of the American Indian, and the National Air and Space Museum.

Annum Architects, including estimating and scheduling for projects at the National Museum of American History, the Arts and Industries Building, restaurant planning at the National Air and Space Museum, and a retrofit of the west tower of the Capital Gallery office building to house the Smithsonian’s headquarters.

EYP-Loring JV, providing estimating and scheduling for the Smithsonian’s restoration of its historic core which encompasses the Castle and the Arts and Industries Building. For more information, click here.
