The Terry L. Smith Aquatics Center reopened in 2020 after undergoing a major renovation, undertaken because the 30-year-old facility no longer met the needs of its patrons and required constant maintenance.
The pool and deck were demolished to make way for a new 25-yard, six-lane lap pool, a therapy pool, and a zero-depth entry area. Other improvements included replacement of the HVAC system, new lighting, updated locker rooms, and a new control desk.
