The Stead Park project has two main components: the renovation of and addition to the existing historic building and the renovation of the playgrounds to the east and south of the main building. The carriageway opening in the center of the building will be renovated, and will serve as the new entrance to the renovated recreation facility. The original masonry openings on the south side will be restored to recreate the original historic facade and the area between the building and the street will be designed as a formal open space, with stairs at the south side leading to the street, establishing its presence as the heart of Stead Park. The east half of the addition will  be used as an indoor playground and intermittently as a community meeting space. The west side of the addition will feature various sized activity rooms overlooking the playing field. An extensive new playground will be added, and the exsiting basketball court renovated and covered, with solar panels on the roof over the court.
