Located in the DuPont Circle Historic District, the Stead Park project had two main components: the renovation of and addition to a carriage house constructed in 1888, and renovation of the playgrounds to the east and south of it.

The design called for modifying the carriageway opening in the center of the building to serve as the new entrance. Restoration of the masonry openings on the south side recreated the original façade. The area between the building and the street was redesigned as a formal open space at the heart of Stead Park.

The east half of the addition was intended to serve as an indoor playground and occasional community meeting space. The west side would feature various-sized activity rooms overlooking the playing field.

The project scope also included an extensive new playground, renovation of the basketball court, and covering it with a roof-bearing solar panels.
