National Institute of Health: Utility Vault and Patient Parking Garage

Bethesda, MD
700 Spaces; $25 Million
Client: HOK
Owner: National Institute of Health
Role: Cost Estimating

The Utility Vault and Patient Parking Garage project includes a 700-space garage, including all necessary support spaces and utility systems, which will allow for the existing garage to be closed, repaired, and re-purposed. The new garage will also accommodate the surface patient and visitor valet parking spaces and will provide a safe facility for patients and visitors, significantly reducing the threat of terrorism by physically moving the threat away from the hospital and biomedical research complex. This project will also include an underground pedestrian tunnel linking the garage to the new Surgery and Radiology building.
